About the Event

The public sector is under increasing pressure to deliver improved sustainable services to Northern Ireland citizens whilst facing increasing pressures on budgets and resources. In addition, the operational challenges of Covid-19 have required organisations to quickly transform and develop new ways of working to ensure and enable the continuation of key public services. Coupled with this, there is an increasing focus across the public sector to deliver policy and business outcomes using more innovative commissioning arrangements to source and successfully deliver effective solutions. These changes will mean key decision makers need to have new skills, tools and techniques and different attitudes to risk to ensure and enable the successful transformation of public services and delivery of their policy outcomes.

Therefore, the Ulster University Business School in collaboration with Social Enterprise Northern Ireland (SENI) is seeking to better understand:

· what are the challenges within public sector when transforming services?

· what skills and knowledge exist on the effective commissioning and implementation of transformational changes within the public sector?

· what are the current skills and knowledge gaps that are preventing successful transformation of services?

· what support is needed by key decision makers in terms of appropriate tools and techniques to impact the design, development and implementation of innovative transformational change?
