Causeway Coast & Glens Enterprise Week 2019

Enterprise Week Social Enterprise Event

Date: Wednesday 6th March

As part of the Enterprise Week 2019 Programme, organisations from across Causeway Coast and Glens had the opportunity to hear from Amanda Johnston of Social Enterprise NI about Social Value and the challenges for the community sector in considering and sustaining social enterprise.

Groups attended the session in Gortnaghey Community Association, hosted by Roe Valley Community Network. Commenting on the benefit of the session, Catherine Farrimond, Community Development Officer with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council said ”This was a very informative presentation by Social Enterprise Northern Ireland which will be extremely useful for any local group considering social enterprise and needing support in taking it forward”.

Amanda Johnston Social Enterprise NI added “Social Enterprise NI, as the representative body for all social enterprises in NI, are delighted to be working with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council today, during Enterprise Week, in delivering a training session promoting the business model of social enterprise to the local area, with the aim of inspiring individuals and community and voluntary sector groups to consider setting up a social enterprise and operating as a business, making a profit and using that profit to help a local, social need”.
