Social Enterprise NI Annual Social Value Conference 2018

The Social Enterprise NI Annual Social Value Conference 2018 will take place on Thursday 22nd March 2018 at the Lagan Valley Island Conference Centre, Lisburn from 9am – 1pm (Registration and Breakfast from 8.15 am).   This year’s conference will open with Social Enterprise NI Director Colin Jess setting the scene and focus on the importance of a Social Value Act here in Northern Ireland. Gareth Johnson, Director of Policy and Performance, CPD will give us an update and you will have an opportunity to ask Gareth any questions you may have.

We will also be having our “Dragons Den” session in the morning this has been once again kindly sponsored by UCIT, and gives up to 4 people/businesses the chance to pitch to our team of Dragons with the chance to win a £1500.  If you would like to get involved and give a 5 minute pitch to our dragons contact amanda@socialenterpriseni.org for an application form. Entries close on Monday 13th March 2018.

We are also delighted to have Andrew van Doorn, CEO of Housing Association Charitable Trust (HACT) London, with us and Andrew will address the conference mid-morning.  Andrew joined HACT in 2003 and has worked in homelessness, supported housing and wider social exclusion policy and practice for 19 years. HACTs work focuses on community insight and social value, helping housing associations and other organisations demonstrate their social impact and value for money.

Our Keynote Speaker will be Chris White MP, who served as Honorary Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Social Enterprise.  His private members bill led to the introduction of the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012, which requires people who commission public services to think about how they can also secure wider social, economic and environmental benefits.  In January 2013, he was appointed by the Government to act as the UK’s first ever social value ambassador, tasked with overseeing and encouraging improvements in the social, environmental and economic impact of public service contracts.  We look forward to hearing from Chris who is a great supporter of our sector.

Social Enterprise NI Director Colin Jess, will return to the podium to talk about ‘The Way Forward’ and the Policy & Lobbying Group.  We will have a question and answer session with Andrew & Chris and conference will close with a Light Lunch.

We hope you can come along and hear from key players in our sector and share your own experiences with other Social Entrepreneurs and build networks.  To book or for more Information on Our Annual Social Value Conference 2018 contact Amanda Johnston on 028 9046 1810 or amanda@socialenterpriseni.org
