Healthy Kids Announce Partnership Northern Ireland Connected Health Innovation Centre (CHIC)

Healthy Kidz (www.healthy-kidz.com), the Lurgan based Education Technology and Coaching company, today announces that it will be conducting a collaborative 12-month project with the Northern Ireland Connected Health Innovation Centre (CHIC), based at Ulster University.

The project will further develop a Cloud based Management and Reporting Service to allow parents/caregivers, teachers, and coaches to monitor engagement and activity of young people using the Healthy Kidz application. This new service will build upon what has already been developed by Healthcare Analytics in developing a dashboard to analyse user data and to utilise state-of-the-art data analytics approaches to personalise behaviour interventions to promote physical activity in children.

Speaking about the plans, Chris Cousens, Technical Manager from Healthy Kidz and project manager, said: “CHIC is focused on business-led research in the area of connected health, making it an ideal long-term partner for us.  This exciting collaboration will support the further development of Ed – Tech solutions to promote and increase physical activity for our pupils. We will now be able to analyse our data and create bespoke and personalized interventions to keep children motivated and stimulated in this critically important aspect of their development.”

David Branagh, CHIC Centre Director commented: “CHIC seeks to lead transformational research which aligns care needs with technology providers, researchers and clinical experience within Northern Ireland. We believe the current CHIC funded project will support Healthy Kidz in developing their application to promote physical activity and general well-being in children. The project aims to develop a platform that utilises data analytic approaches to determine personalised interventions to promote children’s physical activity using data collected from wearable devices”.

ABOUT HEALTHY KIDZ

Healthy Kidz is a unique and innovative physical education and data analytics and coaching business. Incorporated in 2017, the company began by providing a four-strand physical education programme in Northern Ireland primary schools that sought to get every child active, fit and healthy. From the outset, the programme has been evidence -based and outcome focussed, which means that over the last two years the firm has collected substantial volumes of routine data on children's physical activity, health and wellbeing status. By the end of 2019, Healthy Kidz had enrolled and was tracking activity and performance of more than 12,000 children (aged 8 - 11) via its mobile application.
