Building Sustainable Communities

Since 1993, before the ceasefires and the Good Friday agreement, Habitat for Humanity has been breaking down barriers; bringing together people from across our communities to build homes, community and hope locally.

Habitat’s mission has called thousands of people to action as we reflect on 30 years we look to the future, a future where hope remains at the heart of our vision.

Habitat’s ‘House to Home’ programme, currently operating in Ballymena, Belfast and Lisburn areas, supports vulnerable people who have been homeless or at risk of homelessness, to sustain tenancies by helping them to make a house a home.

The project makes a house ‘a home’ for people who need a fresh start, and are already among the most vulnerable in our community.

Through our network of Habitat ReStores, the organisation directly tackles poverty by helping provide access to low-cost home improvement materials, employability training for people of all abilities and diverts more than 1,000 tons of material from landfill annually.

Please come to our event on 30th May, meet Habitat for Humanity International’s CEO Jonathan Reckford, and hear more about Habitat’s plans scale our programmes here in Northern Ireland.
