People 1st - Apprenticeship NI Scheme

Updated: Sep 29

Are you a business in the Portadown / Lurgan area? Do you have a new or existing employee you’d like to upskill? Currently businesses who engage through the Apprenticeship Scheme can avail of an additional £3,000!

Apprenticeships are a great opportunity for you to share your skills and knowledge with those new to the industry. Through peer support and hands on experience your staff member will be able to gain a qualification relevant to their role within your business. To become an Apprenticeship Employer, you will:

  • Employ someone aged 16 – 24 (If you have staff 25+, do get in touch as there are other opportunities coming up)

  • Employ them for a minimum of 21 hours per week

  • Pay your employee the national minimum wage for the role

  • Pay them to attend training once a week/fortnight to achieve their qualification

  • Pay them to attend Essential Skills Maths/English/ICT if they require these or cannot produce their certificates.

  • Allow our assessment team to hold observations in the workplace

  • Ensure employment for the duration of the apprenticeship programme

  • Must be 5:1 ratio of staff per apprentice

Our Apprenticeship programmes are 130 weeks long, this can vary depending on the commitment and motivation of the apprentice.
