New partnership project between Kith & Kin and Libraries NI

Kith & Kin Financial Wellbeing Social Enterprise have partnered with Libraries NI to provide Women, Money & Mental Health sessions in various libraries across Northern Ireland between January and March 2024.

“HopeforLife NI found that 32% of women aged 35-44 show signs of depression.”

These new and unique sessions have been funded by the Clear project through the Public Health Agency NI and will cover areas such as :

  • Menopause

  • Motherhood

  • Divorce & Separation

  • Cancer and Illness

  • Women’s Pensions etc

The sessions last for 1 hour, half delivered by a Financial Advisor and the other by a Menopause Consultant and will be delivered in libraries around Northern Ireland including, Falls Road, Shankill, Lisburn City, Suffolk, and Dungannon libraries with other locations still to be announced.

We will also be providing 1-1 Financial Clinics in the same libraries, these offer individuals a 30 minute Financial Consultation with a qualified Financial Advisor.

These will be held on different dates from the group sessions, a Financial Advisor will visit libraries for the day to allow anyone in the community to book a slot in advance, there will be limited number for these so contact Libraries NI early. The 1-1 sessions will offer people in the community to discuss areas such as : Budget Planning, Pensions, Mortgages, Insurance, Savings, Debt, Credit Scores, Cost of Living, Wills & Estate planning etc

 Sean Bruen from Kith & Kin stated:

“The evidence linking Women’s Mental Health and Money problems is well researched, we will deliver these programmes in local libraries which provide an excellent opportunity for Women to attend them while also encouraging them to visit their local library at the same time."

Aisling Press, Libraries NI District Officer added;

“Libraries NI is delighted to join forces with Kith and Kin to bring you these valuable Women, Money & Mental Health sessions. We understand just how necessary it is to have the right information at your fingertips, and that our customers and communities have access to the necessary financial advice and services to make well-informed decisions during crucial moments in their lives.

“I would encourage everyone to come along and join one of the various sessions taking place. Additional venues will be added soon, so keep an eye out on the Libraries NI website and social media pages for further details.”

This project has been kindly supported by the Public Health Agency through the Clear Project.
